Brichardi's are colony spawners. As the young grow, they help defend the next spawns of fry, and their territory size expands with their numbers. Sooner or later you'll have several hundred brichardi, and nowhere for the catfish to get away from them. I had a spawning pair of N. gracilis (similar to brichardi, but produce smaller broods) in a 55 community tank. After the third spawn I had to move them into a 38 of their own. Brichardi will be worse, they produce several hundred eggs each spawn. The gracilis only produced 40-50, and most of the first brood were eaten by the other fish. The third brood was completely intact when I moved them out, the older juvies were that successful in defending them...
