can anyone help id this eel for me. i cant figure out what it is, maybe cuz its a JUV., about 8 inchees long. bought it for 10$ for my non reeef tank, was it a good price?

hmmm ...

I'm still rather new at this saltwater thing myself but I'm pretty sure that's a snowflake eel. I've seen them in our LFS and I think they get fairly large, like a couple feet. I'm sure someone with more eel experiance will chime in soon.

First off...how big is your "non reef fish tank"??

It looks like either a juvenile Snowflake or maybe (and dont quote me on this) it could be a juvenile Chain Link Moray.

The Snowflake eel requires at least a 75gal. tank (to be happy) and they can reach lengths of up to 3.5 feet. The Chain Link requires at least a 90 - 100gal. tank and reaches lengths of at least 3.5 - 4 feet.
