Just purchased two pieces of coral from my lfs attached to live rock.

The girl that served me was new to the shop and couldnt tell me what kind they were and couldnt find someone to help so I took her word that they would be ok in my tank.

I know that one is a mushroom of some sort but not sure exactly what and I don't have any idea atall about the other. I've posted some pictures of them below.

PS what does everything think of my setup at the mo? any suggestions?

Cool pictures. You have some really nice live rock. As I mentioned in my comments, you might want to check on the bubbles. I have read somewhere that the bubbles can promote instability in your water parameters... just something to check on.

Also, if you plan on keeping more coral (and keeping your live rock healthy) you might want to consider increasing the amount of flow in your tank. You might have one on there and I just couldn't see it, but you should consider having a powerhead pushing water in your tank (apart from your water return). INcreased flow keeps stuff from settling and causing problems. A good one is a Koralia Nano (that is what I have in my 24 gallon). Not sure how much they are in your area, but here they are around $40.

One last thing that you can do to really improve the appearance of your tank is to paint the backside (or use cardstock or poster board). It draws the focus into your tank and, IMO, really makes a big difference
 
Well I read that air stones help oxygen transfer in the tank. I'll keep scouting about and see what I can come up with.

I was thinking of a powerhead too. Will most probably get one this week from LFS.

Although will it affect the swimming of the fish in anyway or will they be able to adapt to it?

Currently though I'm getting worried about my stock via another thread about supplements...... I'm being told my tank was not cycled correctly.....

This is a debated topic. There are both pros and cons. Though oxygen is very important, too much can be deadly for a fish. The finer the bubbles the more likley your fish may get air bloat. Also adding an air stone increases the CO2 gas exchange process increasing the pH in the water. Marine fish like basic water. Also in a reef tank too much oxygen can kill coral. Normally filter systems creates enough oxygenation for a tank to where an air stone is not needed. If you want air bubble for a decorative effect try to get something tha doesn't create a fine bubbles.

Ok. Well i'm gonna remove the bubbles today as I've just purchased a power head so this should solve all these problems above hopefully. As for the corals, any more name suggestions?
 
Michael: the second picture appears to be a discoma, which is a very common and hardy mushroom. Good choice to begin with and will work well when you decide that you want to try your hand at fragging. Live rock looks very nice as well.
