Ok two weeks ago I noticed white spiky areas just like these and I think this is the same cory it started with. I noticed also white areas on the fins and my other 5 cories seemed to be coming down with this so I qt'd all the cories for seven days and treated with pimafix.

All seemed fine the areas were gone on all fish so I transferred them back to the main tank last week then tonight I looked and again spiky white areas and I see it starting on some of the other cories so they are now back in QT. I treated for what I thought looked like fungus could it still be it doesn't look like ich am not sure what the heck this is. Should I retreat with pimafix or use API fungus cure?

I have that too in the house wanna do the right thing am smacking my head against the wall :wall:. What is strange is my other fish are fine no signs of disease at all really weird. Need advise fast. I tested for ammonia yesterday 0 and nitrate between 20-40 wc is due this Sunday on main tank. I hate when my fish get sick especially something I have never seen before need help fast right now atleast they are in QT with a bubbler just not sure what to treat with. I have six cories 5 out of the six I have in QT one cory looks fine nothing on her. Check out the pic please.

If pimafisx worked the first time try it again. If it clears up, great, but keep them in the QT tank for at least two more weeks(time period you give to see if the illness comes back). Keep the water extremely clean. If the pimafix doesn't work you can try your fungus meds although I'd recommend getting melafix if the pimafix doesn't work primarily because it's a wide spectrum antibiotic.

One of my bettas recently came down with ick and what looked like fin rot because some dwarf gouramis beat him up and the stress got too bad for him. He spent over a month in QT because the ick kept resurfacing. So it's trial and error, sometimes it;s a quick fix and sometimes it's not you just have to keep at it and not give up home.

That doesn't look like any fungal infection I've ever seen. My first guess would be ich, but don't take my word for it.

Although, are those longer, white streaks seen on the side of the cory right behind the gills part of it too or is that just from the glass? If so, I wonder if you're dealing with anchor worms or something similar.

Just throwin out ideas.

Yes the cory has white spikes coming out from its sides when I used the pimafix that last time it actually cleared up the problem on all the fish. I would be more concerned if all my fish had this problem I have one cory female who is still in the main tank and is fine no problems whatsoever. This is the strangest thing I have ever seen. I am concerned since I have no idea what it is pimafix worked the first time but maybe I didn't treat long enough. I am going to treat for seven days do another water change and then treat again for another seven days. I will keep them in QT for a couple of weeks more to make sure whatever this is is totally gone. Maybe one week was not enough. I do have gouramies in my main tank they don't seem to be bothering the cories from what I can see. I really hate it when I have to guess what the disease is because I hate wasting money on the wrong meds. The fungus cure med I have also treats secondary bacterial infections. I started with the pimafix last night so will just have to see how it goes. If anyone has any ideas what this really could be I would truly appreciate the input.

I don't know what this is but it is very strange....never seen anything like it myself. Are there any cory experts out there to lend a hand?

I am going to keep watch on this thread to see how it goes. I wish you good luck with the Pimafix/Melafix treatments.
