Can anyone identify this fish???

Please help...I got this fish along with a few other exotics and a 140 gal tank. I have been told this is a Freshwater or Alligator Barracuda, but when I look up those names the pictures do not match. I have spent the last 3 months trying to identify this fish. If anyone knows what it is and the general info about it I would be very greatful. I would really like to know whether this fish does better with other fish of the same species. Hopefully the pictures I tried to attach uploaded properly, if not contact me via email at misskittyne1@yahoo.com and I will try to send the pics that way.

the pics are there now, dont think it is an alligator gar or anytype of gar for that matter...the snout seems too short...but i could be wrong
 
I know they normally call Northern Pike "Freshwater Barracuda" bcause of the quickness of their strike which led me to some kind of Pi8ke because looing into it, it doesn't look exactly like it but it does resemble it. I think Aqualung is correct, I think it's an African too.
