I am fairly new to this fish keeping business so I am still learning how to spot fishes. this one i just acquired with an eclipse 6 gallon system. he has the strangest fins on him...

he is silver and the vertical bands are bluer than they look in the photo. his fins are black. this tank appears to have been kept without a heater for a fairly long time so i would imagine that the water gets AT LEAST as low as 65 or 68 degrees at night. the guy i got him from basically said that he couldn't kill it no matter how much he neglected it. he would only feed him a little bit a day and i would be surprised if he ever did a water change aside from adding water when it evaporated.

anyone know what it is?

neat

i thought he looked kinda tetra-ish, but he looked a bit too scaly IMO (which isn't worth much!).

thanks.

now i can find out what his needs are!

that has to be him. but i think there is something not quite right about him. all of his markings are correct but his body shape is weird. he isn't round enough...he's more of a pill shaped fish instead of an oval shape. but the bands are dead on and the fin style looks right. though his fins are darker than any skirt tetra i can find pics of...

i wonder if he was 'dyed' and sold as a blueberry tetra or something and now the dye has worn off and he's just stunted... i read that they do sell this species as a dyed fish... (longshot)
