Hi, i have a 36 gallon hex BW setup my gravity is at 1.008, PH at 7.8 and 78 temp i have a Green SPotted Puffer and a Jade Goby,Today i bought a Black Finned Shark and added him to the tank after i added him i saw what looks like a bunch of Ick that i didnt see in the LFS. he was being kept as a fresh water (slightly brackish) fish at the LFS, so should the salinity in my tank kill the ICK or am i going to have to treat him?

wut i found out is that black finned sharks are proned to ick u shood treat it and it'll be gone soon.

my understanding is that SW and FW ich are tow diifferent organisms.

Changing the SG of your tank with water changes by .002-3 every month or so will keep most parasites in check. Your new fish should be ich-free real soon!

This is why it is always best to quarantine all new fish. Raise the temp to 86 & do huge water changes every other day.
