I plan to use the following glass canopy on the top of 55G tank.
It is going to be 2 pieces of about 24in long glass canopy.

On the top of each glass canopy, I'd like to put 24" light light. (Similar to the following link)

One side of each canopy will be supported by the center brace.
Is glass canopy strong enough to support the weight of the light for a long run?

I have a double lamp light strip sitting on my glass cover. Same as the one you selected but with 2 lamps instead of just one.

I have these lights on a glass top I built myself and ordered the hinges, back spacer and handles from Dr. Foster Smith and had the 3/16" glass cut local.
I built these lights myself from an old display case and they weigh around 5lbs each and are supported by the glass alone and not resting on any cross brace or end pieces. Never had a problem with them or any worries from them.:grinyes:

However if you are using glass thinner than that i can't say how it would be for you.

Hope this helps.
