A friend wants to give me their pictus cat, it's about 5 or so inches long. I want to put it with my 4in Jack Dempsey in the 90 gal I'm about to set up, along with a common pleco that's about 7in. Would they be compatible?

I was curious because I've seen where they've been kept with cichlids before. I had considered putting 3 TF barbs or bala's with the dempsey, but they offered to give me the pictus.

the problem with the tinfoil barbs is their size compared to the numbers of them that you will have, in a tank that size.

I have pictus cats with sevs, an oscar and a P. polleni, and they definitely hold their own.

when my brother had the 90gal set up he had 2 TF barbs, 2 Bala's and 2 pictus. they seemed to be a pretty hardy fish. i just have never looked into having them with cichlids, thanks for that input Sploke.
