I just (Finally!) found a few (3) Zebra Otos. They have only been in the tank for 2 days, but they seem to be doing fine...at least one of them finally found the zuchinni! I know that they do well in larger groups and I would prefer to keep only zebras, but I can't seem to find any more of them anywhere, only the "regular" oto vestitus. I just read on a webpage that I could keep more than one type together, because they won't interbreed, but I just wanted to run it by the forum. Will they interbreed if I get some more and put them together?

From what I understand, they're very difficult to breed.

I've been keeping them for over a year, and haven't witnessed so much as any flirting, let alone spawning. I currently have 2 different species of them in my 60g.

To the best of my knowledge, they won't interbreed.

I've had zebras and affini ottos together in my 46BF for well over a year and never had any issues. They flirt quite often, but no breeding so far. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I don't want them to interbreed (I really just want more zebras), but I do want them to be in a school. If they are still skittish after a few months, I may just get some more of whatever kind of oto I can find. I'm going to try to hold out to get a few of James0816's first zebra spawn!

lol...that would be nice eh. I'm trying to hold out for that first spawn too. :)
