Can I keep them?

Hey guys,

On one occasion, I bought an Amano shrimp, just to see if it would sustain itself in my tank (specs and species in the sig). I then immediately had to go :( and when I got back, it was gonezo.

I'm under the impression that my tank cannot sustain invertebrates, and just want to confirm that; if I could get some spineless algae-cleaning assistance, I would! Any suggestions?

Nerites maybe? Are you sure the shrimp is gone? They hide very well.

This was months ago, and I recently aquascaped (pics coming when I get my hands on my pal's digital SLR); EVERYTHING in the tank was huddled in a corner together as I worked on the other half of the tank.

EDIT: That said, I saw no traces of shrimp. :(

I would guess the rams or tetras enjoyed the snack then. How do you feel about snails? I've seen the Nerites recommended before as an algae consumer and I don't think the reproduce in freshwater.

Well, I have 5 otos, and it's planted; I tried bearing a pair of apple snails awhile back, and they destroyed my plants.
