Can I sex these rams?

I recently got these two rams (one gold, one blue) and I read somewhere that the tell-tale signs of having a female blue ram is a red belly and blue sparkles over the black slash in the middle, so I'm hoping that my blue ram (Goriri) is a female, but I wanted to know if I could sex gold rams with blue rams and whether or not my gold ram (Gamera) is a male, I've got pictures of both (sorry about the quality). Also, I read that they lay eggs on a flat brown stone and they are protective of their young but you shouldn't remove them from the tank unless they eat the eggs, is this true?

Looks to me like your gold ram is a male and the other is a female.

Most rams are terrible parents, they eat their eggs, or they eat their wrigglers, or they eat their free swimming fry. Many rams are infertile, so even if they lay eggs, they they won't develop. Many rams will not pair up just because there is one male/one female. They just won't spawn. Many times rams eggs won't hatch if the water isn't soft enough...

If you want to set up a situation where you have some spawning and successful hatching, you have your work cut out for you! I wrote up how I do it, it may be helpful for you to see all that needs to be done... especially if your water isn't right!
