can I use baking soda to raise kH and lower pH?

Thought about purchasing distilled water to use?

do also us distilled water, I usually mix it with the snow.

Ya melted snow would most likely be quite acidic fishcatch and most likely have lots of other bad stuff in it as well. If you really want to lower PH use peat in the filter but it may also lower KH not sure.
well, I think i'll enquire to the city about that. I know that my area has very low pollution levels but I do live in a fairly large city.

why cant you? they go for as low as $100 on ebay i think. take a look.
well... seeing as I am 16 years old and have no income, I don't think i'd be able to afford one.

Besides mixing your tap with RO or distilled, Im not sure theres much else you can do. You could add some driftwood-lots of it, inject co2, add peat..

If you would like to spawn fish, and your water conditions aren't right for the ones you have, and there are no easily fixable ways to change your water chemistry, it may be a good idea to get some fish that are "happy" with your current water parameters and will spawn for you.
