can I use eheim 2213 at tank level?

see, that's the thing. I know why they'd like it below the aquarium, to rely on gravity to help out, but beneath the water level and beneath the aquarium are 2 different things. The cannister would be well below the water level, even if sitting on the table with the tank.

I'm hoping someone has used theirs this way.

ok, well, sometimes just trying something is the fastest way to cure curiosity. I just hooked up one of my eheims and it runs. I am hearing a little vibration going on, but it's a used filter that hasn't been run in a year and it has no media in it, so it could be anything.

I don't know if this is ideal for the filter, but it seems to work. Hopefully not to the detriment of it. But it's just sitting on a shelf right now... better put to use than not.

i write manuals for a living and i'd interpret that as 'below water line' so youlll probably be good.....

think of your gravel vac ...the end that is drianing into the bucket only needs to be a few mm below the waterline for you to have flow. i dont think there is any need to have the canister more than a few inches below the waterline.....

i would eliminate as much sag as possible and make sure there is no way the canister can go below the water line
