I have been looking at the intech inflatable pools

there is one that is 8ft diamiter and 30 inchs deep and i think it would be perfect for a little pond! they sell in wallmart for 80 bucks with a filter and they are something like 900 gallons!!!!!

i mean 80 bucks for a 900 gallon pond =o

but anyway i looked into it a bit and called the company but i would like your advice to so here is what i know please tell me what you think!

its made of vinyal with no coating
it is ready plumbed with 1 1/2 inch hoses
the filter is the weak point really, it only goes about 500 gallons an hour according to the customer services rep i talked too.

But! i check online and i can get a laguna external pond filter 4500
for about 80bucks at Big Als.

oh and there are no chemicals or anything in the setup, the filter they provide uses just paper as filter media

Now can anyone see why this wouldnt be a good idea?
if it makes any diffrence i Live in Florida and i will be keeping it indoors, i was looking to stock it with large cichlids or maybe Koi

please let me know what you think!

ok i double checked the filter name and a good thing i did, here is a link to the info on it -- laguna filter

I don't think vinyl would be a problem, but you may want to throw in a few feeder goldfish at first to make sure before you dump alot of money into some rarity. Otherwise it sounds pretty cool. Just make sure your house can tolerate the lost humidity, lest mold will start to grow. Good luck!

i'm happy to see i'm not the only one who thinks like this. people always think i'm crazy when i tell them i'd like to convert a swimming pool into a pond. i'd stock mine with red tail cats tiger shovel nose cats and red belly pacus....O JOY!!!!!

good luck
i can't wait to see the pics ;)

What about one of those plastic pools (remember the one shaped like a turtle?)

I'd be afraid of an inflatable pool deflating....

yeah my wonderful idea was shot down by my girlfriends

what if the cat jumps up on the inflated bit? itll pop and the pool will empty

what if it springs a leak!

my suggestion of permenantly locking the cat in a closet was not met very well :D

if it were my house id just do it omg! lol it would be so cool...

oh well tomorow we are going to go and see if we can find any large tubs/troughs at one of the local feed stores but i think they are going to be more expensive.

but ive looked into it a bit more and this WOULD work, for anyone that is intrested you could get something like a 944 gallon pond for 80bucks...170 counting buying that
