i wanted to put marble tiles as the "substrate" in my 30 gallon but i am not sure if it can be used, i was also thinking maybe tiles or something

see i had lime and glass rock in my tank they dissolved and screwed up my water. check yours becuase i think they are right about it dissolving

Kasakato, I think asd159263 was talking about tiles made from the kind of rock called marble, not the little glass balls called marble.

As well as worrying about the marble dissolving, I would wonder if it was suitable for the friendly bacteria to grow on. It would also be harder to have plants.

From my Understanding of Marble when I did Stone craving, is that as a natural rock it's VERY solid and will not dissolve quickly though it will eventually over a LONG period of time. Think about all the outdoor marble statues in museums and how long they have been around!

As for tile I'm not sure is that is manufactured Marble or natural. I would stay away from tiles unless you know the content. Also manmade synthetics of anything natural IE rubies, diamonds, other stones are usually never as strong as the naturals or as high of a quality.

Good luck! if you have an extra tank i would just have it sit in there and test it weekly to see if there are any changes. ;)
