Can plants/snails carry Ich?

You may find a lot of snail die off after reintorducing them to the tank anyway. Copper is tenacious and will remain in the tank killing in the future. Plants should be fine. But if they are valuable snails I wouldn't chance it.

any updates?

I am happy to give an update.

The final outcome is that I have not seen Ich in the tank for sometime now.
It has been over 10 days since I saw any signs at all.

I lost my dwarf Gourami, but he was ill before the Ich outbreak.

The rest of my fish are well and thriving - in fact - reproducing. The Zebra Danios took the temp increase as a sign it 'was time' and have been spawning like crazy.

I didn't know anything about it until I saw some Danio fry in the QT tank. They must have hitched a ride on the plants I relocated just prior to adding medications to the tank. Then I started to watch the Danios.

According to one article I read, they like to spawn the morning after a WC (no idea why). It said that you should notice most of the Danios near the top of the tank - being chased away by the spawning parents. The article then went into great detail about how to rescue the eggs to protect them from the parents. I don't have to worry about that - I have a Black Ghost Knifefish - who is enjoying really enjoying this new treat.

The bottom line is everyone in the main tank seems to be doing well - eating well - and growing. Lost one but gained 3 fry. I guess I came out ahead. I now have fish to stay in the QT to keep it cycled.

In the QT - Snails, 3 Danio fry, many, many, many plants.
Everyone there seems to be doing well too. I added a bit of fert for the plants, but since their light is restricted they don't seem to need very much. They are still very much alive - so I hope that after another couple of weeks I will be able to 'decide' if I want to put them back in my main tank. Having trouble deciding on what type of tank I want it to be - I had to tear everything down trying to get rid of Ich - now I am thinking about building a 'cave dwellers' tank. Not sure yet - still very much in the planning stage...and reading a lot of the DIY posts........and drooling at the projects...
