Can sharks live with goldfish???

Puntius denisonii aka red line torpedo barbs will do fine in the upper 60s into the high 70s. They are an active fish best kept in groups- they hang together a lot- almost to the point of schooling.

sharks become aggressive anyways and will prolly kill the goldfish in the long run. I wouldnt risk it.

My white tipped shark is housed with guppies & female bettas and has never caused a problem.

Goldfish, especially fancy varieties, actually prefer slightly warmer water. I still think that mixing them with a shark is a bad idea, but goldfish do not require cold water.

Correct. My fancy goldfish do perfer warmer water and are housed in warmer water at my house. I would too :dive: hehe lol JK

hmmm.... by white tipped shark, if that is in fact a columbian shark, you are aware that it will need to be weaned into a brackish environment, right?

Fancy goldies shouldn't have a higher temp than 74 degrees and for comets, they should have a temp in the 60's. One of the reasons for the lower temps for goldies is the higher amount of O2 in the cooler aquarium. The warmer the water, the less O2.

Umm dont bash me (that goes for everyone) please but no..what is that and what do you mean.

White tipped sharks are usually referred to as columbian sharks, these catfish need brackish when young and full marine while adult. Of course you will hear people saying they've kept them in FW but plain and simple they need brackish water.

They also get pretty big, 16-20", I've seen some at 12" but I've never personally seen them bigger then this.

How big is yours now? How big is your aquarium? Judging by the tankmates you'll probably start seeing some missing fish in the future ;)

Good luck with them, I love mine!

Balas are not the only tropical fish called sharks. ;)

Ahh but it seems like everyone esle forgot about the balas. I am quite aware of the variety of sharks (I have/had a few also). I assumed bala shark since the poster seemed to have named himself with bala. Seemed like everyone was assuming otherwise, so I was pointing out that some sharks are not aggressive at all. Perhaps thayayballa needs to specifiy what he is talking about more specifically.

 Gah! I didn't know that. I've been seeing some ripped tails and moved him into a different tank. Looks like he is going to have to go to a new home in the future.

He's about in between 2 and 3 inches right now. Aquarium is 10 gallons.
