can snails dry up???are mine dead??

i took my baby net out of my tank yesterday, and thought that i had all of the baby snails out of it, but today when i got home, i noticed i had missed about 5 little little babies. are they dead now, or can i stick them back in the water??? i tried sticking one in, but it just floated. if any one knows, please let me know. i feel bad for not getting them all out. thanks

Most likely dead. Some types of snails can pull their operculum shut and survive outof water for a while, but if they are floating, that's unlikely. Sorry.

Not true. The annoying snails that pester aquaria owners, which are the ones I feed my puffers, often hold their breath and float in the air. They will then navigate to the sides or the bottom.

yeah, i have always seen them float. everytime i take one out of the water and put one back they mostly always float. thanks for the advice though, but i think they may be dead too, they were just itty bitty little guys.

Eh, it's ok. Just make more by breeding them, that's what I do.

I took out a bunch of shells out of my nano tank and I ended up taking out a snail, not knowing that I did. I washed all the shells off with hot water and a used tooth brush. Over a week later I decided to put a few shells back in for some hiding places. I watched them all sink and then a few minutes pasted and one of them started moving. It was that snail. WOW! What it went through and is still living.
