hey,
I was wondering if someone could buy me (I will Give You the Money) some Jobes Nutrient Sticks, and post them over here( i will also pay for shipping ). as you cant get em over here in australia.

Gumby - What kind of plants are you keeping that you think need them?

I have been keeping planted tanks for 40 years and have yet to find the plant(s) that needs in-substrate fertilization if they are adding a sufficient amount of nutrients into the water table. And I've kept many of the so-called 'root feeders'.
Those spikes and many of the plant tabs available can cause horrendous algae issues if disturbed and allowed into the water table before they are spent.
They can be disturbed either by fish or yourself when moving or pruning or cleaning the substrate.
Just wanted to give you my spin on this form of fertilization. It can have a tremendous down side.

Len

You know I never looked. :look:

You from Australia??

HIYA MAITE??? :hi: :hi:

I have some on hand. PM me your address and I'll send 'em to you. I would research them a bit more and understand Len is offering good advice, but people do still use them and ime, they can help "heavy root feeders" though I don't think they NEED them.

Surely you must have something like Jobes in your local garden store. All it is, is a NPK slow release fertilizer, (nitrogen, phosphate, potassium) Look for any kind of stick or tablet with three sets of numbers. like 15-8-12 The middle number is phosphate. Look for one where the middle number is less than 10 and the other two numbers are double digits.
