My guess would be that the first one is a female flowerhorn, which won't get as pronounced of a nuchal hump on the forehead. The other is definitely a jack dempsey, and you're definitely going to need a bigger tank or to get rid of a few fish. Most of those fish get big like mentioned earlier, and they'll only get more aggressive.
I'm working on it...still waiting on a decision from this guy about the Midas (or Red Devils as mentioned in the King Midas thread). I actually like the Devils better (not into the huge nuchal lump thing). I'm glad to hear the FH might not end up with the monster head. OTOH, I'm disappointed to find out about the origins etc. I very much prefer the idea of having 'natural' breeds...but she is very pretty so far.
I know it's hard after reading the posts here, but don't panic. It's not like you're going to wake up tomorrow, or even a month from now, and find them all full grown. Take your time. With cichlids it's not the size of the fish so much as it is their personality. If you're fish are getting along right now maybe they will do OK as they grow, minus the midas.
Thanks The guy took two of the midas (Red devils). The new tank still looks like a mud-puddle this AM... I'm less panicked now! I feel sorry for the one GT though, they really got him good...fins DO grow back--right?
