i couldnt see the 'male' picture. the female is a jag? ive never seen a jag that looked like that, but im no expert by any means.
since no one else has responded to this I'll chime in. Juvenile guapotes are very hard to sex. Under a size of 4 inches male and female jagaurs will show little or no physical differences. You can sometimes pick out males from females in a group of them by there behavior. From your pics they look young. Both still display the dark band through the center of the body and both show inmature body/ color development. If I had guess I would say you are right. The top one has Blue green in the fins which is found more in males then females. The lower one shows a rounder body shape of a female. Jags will bred at a very small size even though they do not display mature features. Venting guapotes under 4 inches can be inaccurate as well (depending of development and mating activity).
From your pics, they look as though they could be as you have posted. The first does look like a male and the second almost definitely is a female. I'm new to this site and once I work out how to post pics I'll post my male and female for you to compare.
