Can there be too many stems in a bunch?

Just planted my recent shipment of plants and was wondering if some of the bunches I planted (H. polysperma and sunset and R. indicta) would be o.k. since I didn't divide them. There are 12 or more stems per bunch. Some I did divide, others I left as is.
The glosso I divided into smaller clumps too but it is so small, there has to be 12 or more stems per clump. Will they be o.k. or should I divide it up some more?

Someone could really pull my chain and tell me glosso has to be planted individually, stem by stem. Make sure you reference an article if this is the advice.;)
 
No. The only time that might be a problem is with plants like didipilis where it doesnt like to be planted densely - simply because it gets shaded.

I have my indica planted extremely closely/densely and its perfectly fine.

As for the glosso - cut it up into individual plantlets. Use a tweezer to plant. By cutting it, you stimulate new growth and it will grow much faster - partially because each new plantlet will grow in each direction, rather than having a long line of plantlets with, more or less, growth only occuring at each end.

Can't cite an article. Part is common sense. I've read it before, but I don't keep that detailed of references;)

Its the same thing with hairgrass, lilaeopsis. The smaller bunches you start with, the faster it grows.

BTW, i didn't realize your "cite the article" part until right when I said "can't cite an article" lol

I'm seriously not joking either. That is part of why getting glosso is a mixed blessing. It takes a bit to plant. I'm glad I have my 1' long tweezers! Didn't get them from here, but the price is right!

Oops. Sorry. I was just so pleased to have everything planted that I wanted to enjoy it. Oh yeah, and had to mow the lawn, move 10 cu.yds of dirt for my wifes garden, bandage my older sons stubbed toe, finish the baseboard in the bathroom, help my daughter with homework, blah blah...it never ends!:rolleyes:
Odd...the one person I would believe not to be joking is Leopardess. I don't know why I find that odd, I just do. Thanks! I'll go at 'em with tweezers then. Come to think of it, I recall tweezers being mentioned b4 for planting glosso.

No RTR, it wasn't you either. I had already decided to experiment, just wanted an educated guess before things got ugly.

I hate to ostracize myself from the "in the know" crowd, but I don't know who Ghazanfar or ghori are. Please don't hate me!:rolleyes: :)
 
Okay. Glad you're back. Thought maybe I said something (after reading my post, my "common sense" part didn't sound the way I intended it and kind of felt bad:o ).

Glad you're happy about your plants though:) They're fun.

Oh, as for Ghori, he's like a James Hofteizer, or Jay luto, maybe an Ekim or a tsunamicarlos:p Seriously, he's just a guy from Aquabotanic and a few other places that is quite knowledgeable about plants and their needs:)

#!@$%^*!@!!! computer! Can't access any of the links above. I'll have to check it from home.

I pulled my glosso clumps and divided them. I used regular tweezers (DON'T TELL MY WIFE!!!) and it was very easy. I think the Onyx sand made it easier. Actually got about 25 good stems planted.

I'll try to get some pics. I need to update my aq. specs too!

And here I thought Leopardess was the best photographer. My ignorance never ceases to amaze me!:D

FYI, marriage does something to a mans mind...his memory gets worse! Just be prepared.:)
