can these fish all live together?

walmart sucks!!!

As I am doing reaserch for my friend I realize she has 2 paradise fish not gouramis and a rainbow shark as all the fins are red. walmart had them both mislabled. I am going to take over her tank and get a larger tank for the loaches as the are my favorite. the loaches in her 20 are very social out swimming about and eating well. can fish get fat?

Paradise fish are even more aggressive. I believe they are supposed to be 1 per tank as well.

Fish can die from being fat, yes. They develop fatty deposits around their organs just like people do.

Of course Walmart sucks! It's Walmart. TRUST NO ONE

Though clown loaches do get large bodied, not like khulie loaches which stay very slender.

Still only 1 shark in a larger tank though. The clown loaches will eventually need at leasta 75 gallon tank, though when they start to grow they are very easy to trade in at other fish stores for credit.

As for your friend, if she really wants a nice 20 gallon setup then I would suggest a school of neon tetras (or some other tetra like glo-lites) and a small school of cory catfish for the bottom. That will look very nice and be easy to maintain.

wow good ole wal-mart. Now I hate them even more ;)

this is all great advice. When I read your first post it seemed like a lot of potentially big (and some mean) fish for a 20, and everyone's advice kinda sealed it.

Good luck with the tank! hopefully you can find a home for most of the troublemakers in there ;)

?

is there any other way to test the water without a test kit? we live 1 1/2 hours each way from walmart or a lfs the soonest I could get a kit here would be Fri. any ideas so I can get this tank under control?

No way to test without a kit. If you have to wait untill friday....50% water changes everyday! Don't forget water conditioner.

Yes, water changes are the best and really only option at the moment. And once again dechlorinate with water conditioner only if there is a reason. Well water has no chlorine unless you are adding it.

water change

I did a 50% water change last night added aqua-safe to nutralize the metals. we have high iron and calicum in our well water. is there someting else I should use. the tank looks great, water clear, should I change it again tonight? the loach has one white fuzzy spot on tail fin smaller than a pencil tip. what is this and what do I do?
