Can these two Mate?

I don't know about horses and zebras but I had a shih tzu which almost succeeded in a romantic union with pretty much everything in the house over the course of its life including one very surprised tortoise and every cat we ever kept.

Anywho, hard to be 100% sure about anything but I would put my money down on jewels/rusties being unable to produce viable fry.

Although you might well get full mating behaviour right up as far as the female laying eggs I don't think the jewel could fertilise the iodotropheus eggs or vice versa.

What appears to be happening is that the male Rusty is frustrated and is interrupting attempts at mating by my Jewels.

I am going to have to move hm I think or else my Jewels may eat thier eggs if they lay them:(

Thanks for all your help guys and gals:)

Hmmm I'd say the Jewels might sort him out themselves - rusties are relatively gentle little mbuna and a breeding pair of jewels are pretty fierce.

If you're looking for the Jewels to breed definitely best attempted in a tank containing nothing but them.

Thanks Coler yeah I am thinking of placing jewels alone soon:)
