nope. dont mix african and SA/CA cichlids. they have pretty different feeding and water requirements.

Im just curious for my own benefit, But how different are the living and feeding requirments for the african and SA/CA ? Thanks.

most african cichlids have a more herbavorious-based diet, while SA/CA cichlids are more preadatory.

if herbovorious african cichlids are fed to much animal protien, it can lead to malawi bloat.

I would not mix rift lake africans with JD's or Firemouths. However, you could add a Jewel Cichlid to the mix. They are from the west african rivers and look great. Their needed water chemistry and diet more closely match that of your other fish as well. While not African, a Severum would also make a great tankmate.

hmm I am gonna have to look them up and see what they look like. I am wanting some pretty bright colors in there thats why I was asking
