Can they go together?

Alot of it comes down to personal preference. I mix africans with sa/ca cichlids with great success as do a few other people on this board. Others however are very against it. Just like anything else in life, you can take just about any topic and find people who will support either side

I wouldn't mix them personally. If you like SA/CA Cichlids, then go with them, for some colorful ones there's FireMouths, Electric Blue Dempsey's, Yellow Convicts, Regular Dempseys, Jaguar Cichlid, etc..........
