Do you think its a Red Terror?
I'm just making semi-educated guesses based upon the belief that you think it's not a Red Terror. I'm relatively new to the "Name that fish Game" and my ID's are far from certain.
Anyone who's dealt with a few LFS's knows that tradenames for fish can vary as widely as the LFS's salesperson's actual knowledge, we've heard the horror stories, and the "You ain't gonna believe what I got, for so little $$$, because they thought it was a -----." stories.

Juvenile Red Terror, now we know how a fishes markings/coloring can change due to various circumstances...
The more pics I look at and compare to yours.... Hmmmmmm...
Looking at your pic there are definitely some darker bands visible.
Was this taken at the LFS, or in your tank? Some fish gain alot of color once their comfortable and eating a good diet, could very well be a stressed Red Terror.

yah its in my tank......he has those wide bands on him and they flair up and get dark im assuming that hes upset when he does that.....i also have a green terror in the tank with it .....and he chases it around..... the rt just mainly sits behind a plant kinda hides from the gt....they were both aprox the same size when i bought them but the gt took off dunno why the rt is so timid and not growing if it is of course a rt

The larger tank'll be good, less aggression from the GT hopefully.
Too much aggression could be stressing him, hence the faded colors/stripes and lack of normal growth. I'd resist the urge to stock-up the 125gal till your RT is well established and growing like a weed.
Are you actually unsure about his ID? Or just having fun?

i am unsure becuse the rt supposly is the tough one and hes the biggest whimp in the tank..he hides all the time...and should be larger...heck the lil electric yellow thats in their is tougher then the rt
