I am setting up two aquariums and am wondering if the stocking is ok for them i have a 5gallon and a 10gallon. For my 5 gallon i want to have 2female guppies and one male, and an oto this aquarium would have lots of plants for hiding plus i plan on feeding the babies to some other fish. For my 10 gallon i want 1 Dwarf Gourami, 3 harlequin Rasboras, and one oto.
Are these ok?

It all sounds fine to me, but there might be alot of chasing going on in the 5 gallon.

Ottos really like company of other ottos, and can be fickle fish. I'd put both ottos (and maybe a third) in the 10g. Of course, the rasboras would appreciate more if possible, but with the ottos youd be pushing it to add more. with less rasboras, you wouldn't see as much schooling...

The 5g is kinda small for a trio of guppies, but it might work if all the babies leave, and you are very good about tank maintenance.

With both these tanks, because they are smaller you need to stay on top of water changes. At least weekly is a must (I"d say 30%, more on the 5g), and maybe even twice weekly.

Rasboras will do better in such a small tank. The temperature flucuatiions may well kill the oto as they can be sensitive little things when you move them.

Besides, pretty mid-dwelling schools will be much easier to see from across the room.

I agree with purple smurf, I'd do the rasboras over the ottos. I'd do a gourami and 5-6 rasboras. Good mix, pretty tank, some movement.... Oh, and I"d add a couple live plants...

i was planning on the live plants for the 10 gallon but i cant afford it for the 5 gallon because i already have a lot of fake ones in there
Thats o.k. THe ones you put in the 10g might grow enough that you could eventully take cutting of them or something for the 5g...
