I have a well established breeding colony of Pseudotropheus demasoni and I was wondering if I would be able to stock 20+/- .75"-2" Tropheus Bemba in a 55 or 75 gallon tank? If not what would be a good suggestion to team with the tropheus? Any help you would have to give me would be helpful. Thanks!

If smaller near the inch mark and that your are going to get a bigger tank at a later date just for them i would say go for it they surely will out grow this setup..

they have similar dietary needs right? im not sure though, because i know as a general rule of thumb its bad to mix lakes. and after reading of so many tropheus NON-success stories i really wouldnt think so. is this a growout or a permanant setup?

I have seen several Mixed tanks with Mbuna and Tropheus mixed in together and they work just not for me.. LOL

would tropheus ignore meaty food when herb diet is not available...if yes then yeah i think the combination is good to go...otherwise i think we need to be very careful on managing the diet when we have mbuna and tropheus in the same tank...a guy at our LFS told me that tropheus are easily prone to bloat if they consume lot of meaty food...

Demasoni would also get bloat if they ate too many meaty foods. The mbuna and the tropheus eat the same thing so there are no diet issues.

be ready for very frequent WCs than...
