Can you tell me more about why shrimps are so cool?

Hi everyone,

Why are shrimp so popular? Are they fun to watch?

:p:

My LFS doesn't carry them yet, they will in the near future.

I find them fascinating to watch. They skim through moss picking off things to eat with their tiny claws. They seem to be always watching their surroundings too.

Another thing, even a 5 gallon tank is gargantuan for shrimps. They make great pets for a desktop setting or dresser.

It's fun to watch them zoom all over the tank! I kept mine (RCS) in a 5 gallon until I had too many of them. Now they are in a 10 with a ton of java moss. I enjoy watching them as much as I enjoy watching my fish.

I have ghost shrimp and an amano shrimp. The amano hides all day, but the ghost shrimp are pretty fun to watch. They (unlike a lot of fish) are almost always doing something. Mine love bubbles. Sometimes they climb up by airstones and float for a bit then fall out and do it again. Also, it is fun to watch them find food and eat.

Perhaps with more amano shrimp, I could more likely see some personality.

Mine don't reproduce, but I think it's because they are such a nice change from fish. Kinda fun to see how many you can find too!

The advantage of cherries is that, so long as you don't get red plants, they don't hide so good :)
