I go this goldfish from my lil sis about 2 months ago. She got it from school so I am sure it is a feeder fish. It looks different to me though. It has grown about an inch since I got it and his color has changed dramatically. At first he was a blackish - grayish color. Now he still has a little of that color on the top but his belly area is turning a silver - orange color. I know the pics are blury (he wouldnt stay still) but you can see him. Let me know.

Thanks

I went on liveaquaria.com and that does look like him. It said that it can get up to a foot long. He is in my 20 gal. I guess I will have to get something bigger. lol

An outdoor pond would be a good idea if you can't find a big enough tank. I've seen goldfish fry grow and mature from the gray-black color to the gold color before. It must be an adaptation to blend in to their surroundings when young to avoid being easy pickings for predators. Of course, there isn't much left to hide from a heron or egret when they're adults. That's what you get here in florida.
