Canister Filter Question

You should be running a canister & HOB at the same time, otherwise, you'll be needing to clean the cannister very often. How else will you remove the wate from your system?
 
I have been using just a canister filter for a year with no problems. I do water changes weekly. I honestly didn't know that I should run a canister and HOB filter.

What are your nitrates? How often do you clean the canister?
 
I'm at work and couldn't begin to tell you what the nitrates are. I have a master test kit that I use frequently.

I clean the filter once a month usually.

I run 2 cannisters, an eheim 2226 &2227 I use one for my mechanical and the other for biological. The wadd is not a fan of HOB filters.

I myself prefer the cans, but by all means use what you've got. More is usually always better when it come to filtration.
 
you can use two canister filters
there is no absolute need for a hob unless you want one
 
Personally I just run one canister, that works fine for me. The world is your oyster with filtration, just do what you want and works for you.
