Canister Filter - Which one to pick???

When I was saying that I was thinking of an eheim as well as a fluval 405, I meant that fluval was one of the options. It seems that a lot of you have a few filters attached to a tank, does this not cause too much movement within the tank.

I was just thinking of getting one filter, leaning more towards the Fluval 405. Would this be sufficient for my 300L tank??? They say it pumps out 1300lph, are these true statements, or "up-to".

whatever a filter claims to handle "up to" cut that in half. my 75 gallon has a fluval 405 and 2 whisper 60s. you wont have too much filtration and rarely will you have too much flow. the flow is reduced quickly anyways by the tank walls, decor, and most of the time the up tp flow rating is when the canister is empty so there is nothing impeding the flow.

It's tough to get too much filtration but too much direct current can be tough on slow moving fish. I currently have 2 Emperor 400's, one Fluval 305, and an UGF with powerheads on my 125 gallon PLUS a Penguin 110 when my quaratine tank is not in use (to keep the filter happy!). I do not have a very large bioload for the tank but the additional filtration has made a world of difference in overall health of the fish.

I've being going back and forth from fluval to eheim, saying "Okay I'm 100% on Eheim", then saying "Nope I'm going with fluval". In the end I have decided that I'm going to get an eheim.

I went to my LFS where there's a dude there who has been giving me wicked discounts and extra everytime I buy stuff from him and I got into the debate of filters. He asked me how much I was gonnna get the fluval 405 for, and said that he could hook me up with an eheim 2217 for around the same price, maybe cheaper. And included in all eheim filters in the media, which costs around $100 extra if I was to get it all seperate.

So i'm gonna get that one and use that and my current Fluval 4Plus thats in there and see how we go. Pretty excited. Also he hooked me up with a good little quarantine tank for pretty cheap so that's cool.

thanks for all your posts and I'll let you know once I get it how it went.
