Canister Filtration

no matter what canister you choose, i'd be keeping the hob filter on the tank too. this way if one of the filters conks out, you aren't left with the equivalent of a huge fish bowl and rising ammonia levels. i always run two filters on any tank larger than 10 gallons.

i'm partial to the Rena XP series canisters, but that might just be because those are the only canisters i've owned. they work great, are quiet, easy to set up, and the square media baskets give you plenty of flex when it comes to using custom media (as opposed to what the filter manufacturer tries to sell you for too much money!).

I agree with all of the above! I have a 150 gallon and have a Rena XP4 on it along with an AquaClear 110 h.o.b. What is crystal clear and tank stays clean. The Rena brand is great. Had mine running for over a year now and haven't had any problems what so ever.

this is my $0.02

Also if looking for filters online try www.lnt.com

Its the online linens and things and i got a hell of a deal on my Xp4. They have all the brands on there. I was suprised by the prices and you can find additional coupons as well for the site.
