I was wondering if a c-160 or an XP-1 be enough to filter a 29 gallon tank. its gonna be lightly/moderately planted.

stock is 1 angel, 10 or 12 lemon tetras and 4 cories

much appreciated and happy new year from the west coast

Yes, it will be fine.

A Hot Mag would work also ..........:)

Either one would work fine for a nice small tank like that. I have an emergency HOT mag and would not want it as my main filter. The return arrangement on it is too limiting, it comes in at the water surface no matter where you would like it.

i have heard many stories of the marineland c-160 leaking. google it and you will find out.

Really? From what i have read here, the c series is highly regarded. Or is it just the c-160 that leaks?

If the filters weren't enough i was thinking about moving up one size (ie c220 or xp2)

Plus Marineland has excellent customer service, and they dont hesitate to send out replacement parts if you have an issue.

I use a Rena XP1 on my 30 gallon, along with an AC 20. Works perfectly, but an upgrade never hurts.

:iagree:

That sounds like a good combination for a 29g, though I might go up to an AC 30.
