thanks for all the input everyone. i might just settle for a c160 and use a Whisper 40.

As far as a C series leaking, my C-220 does not leak but the rotate and lift shutoff valve does not shut it off any more. It quit working right after about 6 months. It makes the filter a bit inconvenient to clean but the filter still works right and is leak tight.
