canister or biowheel. HELP

I run an Emperor 400 and a large sponge filter in my 46 gal and have not had any issues since it was first set up 1.5 yrs ago. Although if I had to choose and $$ is not an issue, I'd go for a canister :) I have a Rena XP3 and large sponge filter running in a 72 gal and that's awesome too :)

Canister and penguin 350(question mark)

If you're ever going to add CO2 or go to the dark side (marine) - get the canister. If all you want are FW fish and slow growing plants, go biowheels.

Eheims still rule among cansiters (though Rena, Via Aqua and some others are decent values too).

so would it be good to keep the biowheel and add the canister(question mark)

(sorry, key broke).

and my main issue with my penguin 350 is the amount of 'oxygen' bubbles in the water. it almost makes my water look cloudy.

and finally, does the canister help plant growth(Question mark)

cuase im thinkin the 90 dollars that it is would be worth it.

thanks again for all the help.

I love Eheim filters. In my opinion they are the best and they run the tank with dead silence. You would not even know they are running as long as the water level is high enough. Anyway, as far as the bio-wheel filter is concerned, I would keep in running on the tank along with the canister filter you choose since it already has a lot of established benificial bacteria for your tank. If you want to remove it later you can but unless you really detest the bio-wheel I would just leave it there with the canister filter. You can never have too much filteration.

thank you. granted, the bio-wheel makes a small amount of noise, but my music often covers it.

I ended up with a fluval 305 and I absolutely love it!
Such an awesome filter. It was more expensive than the eheim 2215, but worth every penny
