I'm looking seriously at the Eheim 2026 for when I get my 120-125 gal.
I figure spend the money and get the best.
If money is a "Problem" then I would look into less pricey brands, like the maybe the Penn Plax, Cascade 1500 canister filter or such.

if you got the cash go Eheim Pro2, wish i bought 1 instead of my fluval, the fluval is good, but ehiem is better.

For Biowheels - I love Marinelands Emperor 400, but when it comes to canisters - Fluvals are the best (and that would include comparasons against Eheim in my opinion).

If I had a couple hundred bucks extra for the hobby I would get Eheim.

But I got an XP3 with the petsmart printout deal. Print the price off the website and take it into the store and they will honor the online price which can be a lot less -- $45 less in my case.

as far as canister filters go. Which do you prefer. Marinelands Magnum 350's or Fluval's 04 series or FilStar's XP series
I can't really say which one I think is the best because I only have experience with the Filstar xp3. I also used a Marineland canister filter about 10 yrs ago but it is not fair to compare because I'm sure their technology has improved. I think they all do a very good job of filtering your tanks and it is the features that really differentiate between the main manufacturers. When I researched canister filters about 3 weeks ago prior to setting up my 75 gal community tank that is the conclusion that I came to. I basically chose the Filstar xp3 because it had the ability controland to adjust the flow. I don't know if the others did but I couldn't find it advertised in their spec sheets. Also filstar canisters were the only ones that advertised the ability to return the water via a spray bar in addition to a nozel. I thought I might prefer the spray bar but liked the idea of conveniently having a choice.

I can say that since using my Filstar xp3, I am thoroughly satisfied with all aspects of its ease of use, its convenient features, and its design and set up for filtering my tank.
