I have an old magnum 350 that’s going to burn out soon. I was thinking about getting a new one off the net and using them in a series. The first one would feed water to the second one and back out to the tank. I was thinking about using a micron filter in the second filter and the fist one would pre filter and do a lot of the biological stuff.

Since the drop of the water going in is equal to the lift out than it would only need the pump to move the water. I would think that the one motor would beadle to handle this. Has anyone tried it? How did it work? What filters did you use?

You may be overloading the one remaining motor. The drop/lift do balance, but the resistance of the packing does not - you are increasing to doubling that. It is likely to void your warranty as well.

I talked to a person at costumer assistance and he said would be just like turning the valve to reduce the flow of water. So yes it would work as long at the first filter was running and the second one had no propeller in it.
I’ll get another one in 2 weeks and try it out.

you could just stick a cheap rio pump onto the intake of the broken one and just stuff it full of bio media.
