Hey there- posting this for a friend. She has a 29 gallon tank with two goldfish, and is planning on getting a 55 gallon in a year or so. But in the mean time, she wants to upgrade to a cannister filter. She is debating between the Fluval 405 and the new Marineland cannister.

Any thoughts on which would be better for a goldfish tank?
Thanks!

They say to have double the filtration for a goldfish tank.... so whichever they by, you should tell them to get a filter that is good for up to a 55gallon tank for the 29gallon now..... then when they do buy the 55 gallon, they can buy another filter for a 55 gallon and they'll be good to go :)

You should do 10 x gph for any tank. My 75 gallon tank has 1050 gph and my 20 gallon has 400 gph. More is better. I prefer the Rena canster filters. Easy to start up and lots of room for media.

i loved my fluval and i dont mind my rena. the rena is a little but of a pain to start up the first few times until you get the hang of it. the fluval was super easy to start up and easy to prime as well
