I have access to a digital camera and dont know how to use it. Can someone help me in terms of the settings ect for fishy photos. Thankyou.

I dont have that type of camera so cant really help with it but just play around with it.. best way to learn what the camera can do is when you mess with different features.. Obviously try to have the camera still when taking pictures and no flash..
Fish photos are usually macro photos. I'm pretty sure the Canon has a macro setting. Look for a button with a flower symbol. It might be buried in the menus somewhere. You could also get away with using the portrait mode. Make sure the flash is off or take photos at an angle from the tank or else flash glare will show up. Unless you have steady hands, a tripod helps. Or use a book or something solid to support the camera.

I have the SD800IS and I usually take pictures inside the tank on macro with no flash. On mine there is a small picture of a lightning bolt that you can press to turn off the flash. I use the overhead tank lighting and make sure to turn off all other light sources in the room so that there aren't any reflections on the glass. Have fun with the picture taking. By the way, if you can get a hold of the 800 series there is an "aquarium" mode that optimizes all the settings for you :grinyes:.

I found the best way to get results from a new camera when taking fish
pics is to set the camera to automatic and continual auto focus (caf)
if you have it. turn the macro button on, (flower symbol) and use your flash
at a low setting if you can set it, you need to experiment a bit with the flash.
the flash freezes fash moving fish and you get a better shot.
For tank shots, don't use the flash but take the pics at night and turn of all
other light sources in the room.
