Ok, first off I've had my 404 for about 3-4 years now, and the only problem I had was the seal would leak around where the top and bottom connect. For any of you having this problem, the one thing that I found that works EXCELLENT if fixing this is using some teflon tape around it. Wrap it maybe 2 times, and it won't leak anymore. Anyway, back to my problem. My impeller cover clip broke about a month or so ago. I ordered a new one, and now I cannot get the cover to stay on for the life of me. When I clip it on, both sides clip on fine, and if I try to take it back off, it is near impossible to get it back off. But when I put it all back together and turn the flow back on full, it will within 5 minutes manage to come back off, one side does, and gives the wonderful impeller rattle and no water flow. The only way I can manage to keep it on is turn the flow WAY down, which kinda defeats the purpose of having a filter this size on a 55 gallon. Has anyone else had this problem? I've searched here and googled it, and can't find any help. Puhhhlleeeease help me, Thanks.

I was having the same problem with mine, finally I bought a new O ring for the main seal and that took care of it. it was about $5 at my LFS
i bought the new o-ring also, no good, that's why i used the teflon tape and no worries since. I figured out the impeller cover, it had a hairline crack in one of the clips causing it to ever so slightly bend up, letting the cover pop off, oh well, guess i gotta buy a new one again.
