sweet! We're totally like, twins or something! lol
i actually am about to move tho either in a couple months or like 6 months, so im sort of restraining myself...i don't want to set something up and get it all established and then drag it all over creation *sigh*
I wouldn't use miracle grow (it contains a slow reacting fertilizer, a surfactant, and some other chemicals) I would actually go for an off brand cheap brand, they are more likely just to blend some different dirt together and sell it.
The link provided on the first page has a sticky at the top of their forums that explains this all better.
I have posted these pics before, but here is my 10 gallon planted tank with Miracle Grow soil, with gravel on top of it.I added the fish with the cycled filters,(the tank was set up with fake plants before),as soon as I filled it with water and added the plants. The water was kind of yellow for 2 or 3 weeks after I set it up,I did 50% water changes at least 3 times a week, but now it is crystal clear. Here are the pics.
I did this for my crypt tank. I used a 1/2" layer of orgainic peat humus on the bottom, the next 1 1/2" was plain old top soil, then a layer of regular aquarium gravel for a cap to keep everything down. Works really well and the crypts love it, but every time you want to plant/remove something, you get a big cloud.
67chevelle I also want to know if you use ferts or co2 and you lightning. Also what is that red plant in the center? I have one but the bottom leaves are always turning clear once it gets to a decent size.
