Can't get PH down....HELP!!!!

Yes, run the powerhead the entire time the water is mixing. Adding the salt mix raises the pH of water--the mix includes buffers (calcium carbonate, etc) to increase pH and alkalinity. How high is the alk?

I've never used the Crystal Sea salt mix, so can't say if this is typical of their mix or not. From an content analysis, it doesn't seem to contain anything that would cause a high pH or other complications, but as with all salt mixes, it has it's fans and detractors--some claiming that it's lethal in their tanks. However--most reports of problems I found were after individuals switched brands, and that can always cause problems, no matter what brands are involved.

The alk is on the high side. I just received my Seachem test kit and that shows the PH as 8.2-8.4. I tested the RODI with no mix and it was just clear, no color change. Odd. I just ordered a PH meter. Maybe I'm just nervous.

The pH of RODI should be 7.0--completely neutral. A high range test kit (most commonly used for marine tanks) can't register that low.

You think test kit pH is wonky in RO/DI water?
Wait til you put a meter on it :D
There is nothing in RO/DI water for a test kit or meter to get a reading on- don't worry about the pH of your RO/DI water. If you are worried about its quality use a TDS meter.
Also http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=364065 addresses the uselessness of trying to measure the pH of RO/DI water.

Relax. It is never good to obsess over pH readings, especially when you have no other issues.
