can't get rid of cloudy/green water....

aaron

The tank appears greener from the side than the front only due the dimension of the extent of the algae which you are viewing.

IMHO you are really barking up the wrong tree here.

You are thinking about addressing the symptoms instead of the problems.

Green water can be controlled by experimentation in order to determine the appropriate feeding, lighting duration and fertilization protocols.

I also read on here somewhere that you can get rid of euglena protists by having a 4 day blackout. Where you cover the tank with a towel and make sure NO light at all hits the tank and you also dont feed them. You do that for four days. Anyone else have any information on this? Does it work?

That may work but no guarantee they wont come back.

This is the one that have used to eliminate them in a 40 gallon discus tank.

I personally would love to have this problem. "Green water" is great for fry. Once this is "fixed", you may want to revisit your stocking as I think it may pose potential future problems. Good luck! :)

what is fry?

I'm just tired of my tank being green. Everytime someone comes over they are always like "dang your tank is dirty" or "dont you think its time to clean your tank"

Fry are baby fish. The green water provides a source of food for them. Like someone said, the problem will clear on it's own if you have a good water change routine. Next time they ask why your tank is dirty, just tell them "it isn't, I'm raising fry". :grinyes:

The water still isn't getting any better. Its been like this for at least 2 months now. Ive tried everything. Frequent water changes. Even took everything out including the gravel and cleaned it. Tried the blackout method. Still its just as green.
