Carbon Supplement

Will the carbon supplement really do what the CO2 will do for plants? If anything, will it at least help? Is it worth using?

Excel is a great product, but it can get very expensive depending on the size of your tank. If you can do CO2 i would, expensive up front and just a refill every once and a while. Excel will do almost the same thing, but I would go with CO2.

yes carbon supplements work great. co2 gas works better. the method of which you introduce this to your tank depends on many factors....such as the size of your tank, the size of your wallet, the size of your patience. and several other more technical factors.

Ive been using excel for a while and saw a nice amount of growth, even on plants that have been totally dormant, i recently upgraded to 130 watts of light from 98 watts, hopefully now i will get some more full growth, i want to upgrade to a co2 system but i don't have the money right now

co2 should be upgraded before lights in most situations...the added co2 will give a greater benefit than the perceived benefit of more light with no co2

Oh yea, drrrrr...........

30 gallon, 36 watts of light over mostly java fern and java lace. 1 angel fish. No special substrate, just that "standard" gravel you get at any old pet store. Plans........hmmmm, maybe some smaller fish to accent the angel, but I'd have to look in to how territorial he'll be in the future.

you dont have anything in there that will really benefit from the expense of any means of co2 injection IMHO.

you should be able to get by with just an excel type product...buy it by the gallon to get the best bang for your buck.

Florin Axis is much cheaper than Excel- use less of it too.

Different product- but both claim to add carbon.
