Cardinal Tetra Red Stripe is GONE!

I've tried to search engine this, but I can't find anything. I just came home from work and my cardinal tetras' red stripes are all gone! Is this maybe cuz the hosue was dark when I got home and it only shows up with light, or what? Am I freaking out for nothing??

Could you reword the question, I don't understand exactly what you are trying to ask. But for a start, what are your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels in that tank?

Red is coming back

I have some cardinal tetras in a FW tank, and when I got home just now (10:00 PM Central) all their red stripes were gone! The apartment was dark, though, and when I turned on the light in the tank, they were all totally still. Now, they've been active and the red stripe is returning. Maybe it's only present when they're actively swimming around?

Odds are they were asleep, my white clouds do the same. Admitedly, their colors aren't as bright to start with, but they deffinitely dim after a period of darkness, and they swim very slowly in a still part of my tank, just enough to hold themselves in one place.

When the light comes on (or morning), they slowly wake up and start cruising around, and the colors come back.

Fish's colors fading away in the dark is normal. My fish bleach themselves out at night but once they wake up in the morning they become nice and colorful again.

This is normal.
I remember the first time I woke up before my timer turned the tank on ... I look a look at the cardinals and I was like WOAH thats a white stomach >.>

I got some light on them to make sure it wasn't some rather large guppie fry or something i just never saw before ...

My rummy noses and cardinals all fade in the dark. When the lights first come on it is hard to tell one from the other.
