Are these fish easy or difficulte to have in a community tank. I am putting 4 angles, 2 blue rams, 6 cory's in a 55 gal. I am looking to get a small schooling fish. The Cardinals are a neat looking fish and I am looking at getting some. I have done some research on them, and I thnk they should work in this tank. I would like some opinions on the cardinals and if they are a good choice or not.

Also do you think I put some more fish in this tank than what I have stated above. Thanks for all the help.

I think that should be okay. I love cardinals very hardy, colorful, and they school pretty well too.

I saw a beautiful school of about 50 cardinals at the nat'l aq. in baltimore. Go for it!

There's a theory that if your angels grow up with your cardinals they will see them less as a snack
To be fair my school of Cardinals no longer has 30 members! I think I might have lost a couple to predation. Thing is I had some in my 30g and they were ok... added thosse to 100g and increased the numbers and they kinda school. Once you put the angels in they definately school!

Nothing like coming home to see a blur of red and blue with and angel scatteirng them everywhere!

very cool fish - they grow quick too I have one that's about 1.5" in only 2 months!

I know that the Cardnials might be seen as foot to the angles, but I have also read that if they have been in the tank with them since they where first introduced then there is a less chance of them doing that. This is what I am going to do to limit the chances of this happening.

I was going to get the Cardinals and put them in the tank first. Wait a week then get the Rams. Wait week and get the Cory's. Then I was going to wait a couple of week before I get the Angles. This way the fish that will be in the tank will get astablished before I bring in the angles. Will this help to keep the angles from eating my cardnials?

It's more to do with the size of the angels when they go in. If you buy juvy angels you should be ok. Stear clear of full growns as they will def snack on the cardinals.

I added my tetras then Angels and there has been a few deaths but not enough to make me rethink my stocking. Angels were about the size of a 50p / dime.
