I have three Clown Loaches in a 37 gallon planted tank and have decided to sell my largest clown loach (3.5"), but do not want to mess up my planted tank trying to net it. I am thinking of placing a short piece of PVC tubing at the bottom of the tank to see if the Clown Loach might go in it. Anybody have another idea I might try?

Good luck- I tried on and off for close to 2 years to get the last of 3 clowns out of a heavily planted 45 gal. I gave up. He is now a lone, nutty hiding clown. One day I will break down the tank and eventually get him out.

I usually just leave pipes as these seem to bait the loaches into hiding. I simply block the ends the moment they enter it to prevent them from escaping.

I vote rescape....its always nice to have a fresh layout....

I need to get two CAE's out of my 125 planted. I haven't even attempted to do so yet. Ack! Those things are hard to catch in an open 10 gallon much less a planted 125 long.

Like already said, catching anything in a fully planted tank regardless of the size is just a big pain and very messy. Either leave him where he is or you will end up re-scaping your current aquascape.

Thanks to all of you who provided input. I will try the open pipe first then, if that doesn't work, I will try the soda bottle trap. Fortunately, there is no real urgency.
